Lennox International Inc. is a distinguished name in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) industry, a reputation earned through a long history of innovation and a commitment to high-efficiency equipment. The company's story began in 1895 in Marshalltown, Iowa, when founder Dave Lennox, a machine repair shop owner, acquired the patent for the world's first riveted-steel furnace. This pioneering spirit continued as Lennox helped introduce the forced-air furnace and later produced some of the industry's first high-efficiency gas furnaces and high-SEER air conditioners. Today, the company's corporate headquarters is in Richardson, Texas, but the legacy continues with manufacturing facilities in North America, including major production centers in Marshalltown, Iowa, and Orangeburg, South Carolina, in the United States, as well as Saltillo, Mexico.

Lennox equipment is generally considered a premium brand with a price point that is higher than many competitors, reflecting its focus on high-performance technology, exceptional energy efficiency, and quiet operation. The brand is structured into three main product lines to accommodate varying needs and budgets. The Merit Series is the most budget-friendly line, offering reliable function and value. The Elite Series is a mid-range offering, balancing performance with price. At the top of the line is the Dave Lennox Signature Collection, which features the company's most advanced, ultra-efficient, and quiet systems, with corresponding premium pricing. Homeowners can expect a full system installation, including the unit and labor, to range from approximately $5,000 to over $15,000, with the high-end Signature series units commanding the top prices.

The company's reputation is built on its history of being a leader in energy efficiency, with some of its air conditioners boasting the highest Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) ratings on the market. This focus on efficiency often translates to significant long-term energy savings for the homeowner, which helps offset the higher initial purchase price. Lennox is highly regarded by HVAC professionals for the quality and durability of its equipment, although some consumer feedback mentions that the advanced technology in the premium lines can occasionally lead to more complex repairs. Overall, Lennox maintains a strong standing in the industry as a reliable, high-quality, and technologically advanced choice for home comfort.

When it comes to warranty, Lennox offers different levels of basic limited coverage depending on the product series, and it should be noted that the basic manufacturer's warranty typically covers parts only, not labor. For their flagship Dave Lennox Signature Collection products installed after February 2022, the basic warranty is 10 years on covered components and the compressor, and a limited lifetime or 20-year warranty on the heat exchanger. The mid-tier Elite Series generally offers a 5-year parts coverage on most components, a 10-year compressor warranty, and a limited lifetime or 20-year heat exchanger warranty. The entry-level Merit Series usually provides 5 years of coverage for the compressor and other covered parts, with a 20-year heat exchanger warranty. Homeowners are given a Warranty Your Way option to extend coverage by registering their product, allowing them to choose a slightly longer parts-only coverage or a combination of parts and up to three years of labor coverage. For complete peace of mind, homeowners can purchase an extended service agreement that covers labor and other costs not included in the basic limited warranty.
